FAMILY MUSICAL THEATER PRODUCES SOMETHING’S AFOOT
TO BENEFIT SUPPORT DOGS, INC.
Murder, conspiracy and intrigue abound this fall as Family Musical Theater wraps up its 2008 season with the murder mystery musical, Something’s Afoot. It’s a classic tale: ten seemingly unrelated strangers gather at an isolated manor house, and as the truth behind their gathering starts to come out, the bodies start to pile up in the library. Was it the butler? The black sheep nephew? The uninvited guest? Can anyone figure out what is afoot before it’s too late? With its creative homicide and catchy tunes, Something’s Afoot is sure to entertain audiences in search of a good mystery and a good laugh.
The thrill of live theater is accompanied by the power of giving back to the community. A portion of the proceeds from Something’s Afoot will benefit Support Dogs, Inc., a St. Louis-based non-profit that provides service dogs and pet therapy to those in need locally and nationally. FMT is thrilled to support SDI for a fourth straight season, and looks forward to continuing to raise money and awareness for this special group.
FMT is the resident theater company at the Ivory Theatre in Carondelet. This building served the people of St. Boniface Catholic Church as their worship space for over 140 years, and has been recently renovated into a fascinating theater space, incorporating elements of the original church throughout.
Something’s Afoot will run Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 7-8 and Nov. 14-15 at 8 p.m., and Sundays, Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Ivory Theatre, 7620 Michigan Avenue in Carondelet. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door, with discounts for seniors and children. Club seating is $25. Call 636-223-0165 for availability.
Family Musical Theater is a registered non-profit organization based in St. Louis, Mo. FMT is a volunteer-run group that donates proceeds from its productions to a local charity. FMT has given the St. Louis community an opportunity to participate in live charitable community theater since 1989.
